Editor,

Tracking the Crisis

Mel Figueroa is the editor of Tracking the Crisis, a project of the Democracy Collaborative that provides a weekly news round up of Trump Administration actions and movement responses. Mel has worked in several capacities as an activist, journalist, and educator for social and environmental justice over the past 20 years, starting in her hometown of Los Angeles, and then in Chicago, Oakland, UC Berkeley, and Sonoma State University. During the first Trump Administration, she traveled around the country with the Movement School for Revolutionaries co-leading workshops for activists on organizing locally to strengthen communities against what, at the time, was creeping fascism. She has also worked with California tribes to promote Traditional Ecological Knowledge in conservation and public lands management, and is now in Eureka working with the North Coast Progressive Alliance and the Humboldt Solidarity Coalition.
