Next System Teach-In @Cal Poly Humboldt

What is the Next System Teach-In?

If we take our current social, political, economic, and ecological crises seriously enough, can we build a world that is democratic, sustainable, and just?

This November, people around the country are gathering at dozens of local Next System Teach-Ins to tackle this important question, learn from each other and hear from social movements around the world who are taking up the challenge of building alternatives to the current system that can sustain the kind of world we all deserve.

Join us on November 8th at Cal Poly Humboldt for our local Teach-In, where we will focus on the growing Solidarity Economy movement - highlighting cooperative ownership, community wealth building, and democratic approaches to meeting human needs. Lunch is provided.

The National Next System Teach-In series is coordinated through the Next System Studies program at George Mason University.

Plenary: Making the Solidarity Economy Real (9:30 - 10:45 AM)

An opening plenary on the growing movement to build a solidarity economy - a new system of economic and social relationships based on cooperation and resilience, not greed and exploitation.

Next System in Practice: World Cafe (3:30 - 5:00 PM)

In our closing session, we invite you to join a collective dialogue on local issues and organizing priorities in Humboldt County, using innovative models for democratic participation recently pioneered by social movements.
