No on F: A Poem

“Housing for All and Downtown Vitality” 

sounds benign

but Measure F is sponsored

by filthy rich swine

Arkley and friends paid to get sigs

on a petition that read 

like lipstick on pigs

Lying, conniving, falsifying, vote buying, trying

to get their way

with bogus word play

The naming is phony framing 

from those immune to shaming,

those who piss in your ear and insist that it’s raining

Let's call the initiative what it is,

Housing for None and Profits Over People,

a stinkweed by any other name would still smell like fecal

Don’t surrender to pretenders, to housing preventers

who take you and me for a fool by telling the city

to use Jacobs Middle School

That ain’t cool,

‘cause the City of Eureka doesn’t even own that jewel

Turn those downtown lots into spots 

peeps can call home, places of their own

It’s legal chaos and the loss of grants if 

the city is forced to violate contracts

We’d also lose out on improved public transit,

vital for people

and planet

Remember, come NOvember, we gotta give

a collective veto

to that bloodsucking mosquito 

who bribed Justice Alito
