Proposal to Call for the Resignation of Mark Johnson as Chief of Staff at Cal Poly Humboldt.

On Monday 10/14, we will be discussing whether to call for the resignation of Mark Johnson as Chief of Staff at Cal Poly Humboldt due to his decision-making during the April protests that needlessly escalated tensions, endangered both students and law-enforcement, and completely disregarded standard protest response procedures. STATEWIDE PROPOSITIONS

We will be discussing the following statewide propositions on November’s ballot. Please note these are not formal NCPA positions, but rather will be discussed as a group on Monday. Our proposed positions are as follows:

Yes on Proposition 2 -The state could borrow $10 billion to build new or renovate existing public schools and community colleges.

Yes on Proposition 3 - Language in the California Constitution would be updated to protect the fundamental right to marry, regardless of gender or race.

Yes on Proposition 4- The state could borrow $10 billion to fund conservation and climate mitigation efforts.

Yes on Proposition 5 - Allows Local Bonds for Affordable Housing & Public Infrastructure with 55% Approval.

Yes on  Proposition 6 - Involuntary servitude would not be allowed as punishment for crime. State prisons would not be allowed to discipline people in prison who refuse to work.

Yes on Proposition 32 -The state minimum wage would be $18 per hour in 2026. After that, it would go up each year based on how fast prices are going up.

Yes on Proposition 33 - State law would not limit the kinds of rent control laws cities and counties could have.

No position on Proposition 34 -Would require large health care providers meeting specified criteria to spend 98% of revenues from federal discount prescription drug program on direct patient care.

Yes on Proposition 35 - An existing state tax on health plans that provides funding for certain health programs would become permanent. New rules would direct how the state must use the revenue.

No on Proposition 36 - Allows Felony Charges & Increases Sentences for Certain Drug & Theft Crimes. It reignites the failed war on drugs, makes simple drug possession a felony, and wastes billions on prisons, while slashing crucial funding for victims, crime prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation. This puts prisons first and guts treatment.
